This kit is based on the quantitative measurement of extracellular reduction of the highly water soluble tetrazolium dye WST-8 [2-(2-methoxy-4-nitrophenyl)-3-(4 - nitrophenyl)-5-(2, 4 disulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium monosodium salt] to a water-soluble colored formazan product by metabolically active cells.
