Erythrocytes are the most abundant cell type in fresh blood (orange), typically showing a peak around 5.1 µm, as seen in this case. CASY is sensitive enough to distinguish both active and inactive platelet populations within fresh blood. After centrifugation, platelets (blue) remain and can be detected as a distinct population.
