xCELLigence CIM-Plate Principle
CIM-Plates use a two-chamber system separated by a microporous membrane embedded with gold microelectrodes. Cells placed in the upper chamber migrate through the membrane toward chemoattractants in the lower chamber. As cells pass through and interact with the electrodes, they generate measurable impedance changes. These impedance signals increase as more cells migrate, enabling real-time, label-free quantification of cell migration and invasion.
